FEEDING HONG KONG
You may be aware that a significant number of people (1 in 8) live below the poverty line in Hong Kong, including 1 in 3 elderly and 1 in 5 or 20% of children. This represents a huge percentage of elderly and children in Hong Kong who do not have sufficient resources to live well and learn.
Feeding Hong Kong is a Hong Kong registered charity with a mission to fight hunger in the city and reduce the amount of quality food being sent to our landfills. Each day, they collect high quality food that would otherwise be thrown away, sort and store it, and redistribute it to a network of welfare organizations who feed thousands of people in need. In addition, they run food drives to collect quantities of basic needed food items.
During this school year, the Wu Kai Sha Kindergarten community will support Feeding Hong Kong by taking part in a Food Drive each month. Your generous donations are greatly appreciated! The collection calendar is as follows:
- October: Rice
- November: Canned Soup
- January: Oats
- February: Noodles & Vermicelli
- March: Canned Vegetables
- May: UHT Milk
- June: Canned Fish
DONATIONS TO HKSPC
Every Christmas we support children who are less fortunate than our own by donating Christmas gifts to the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children (HKSPC). Details of how you can support this initiative will be communicated to parents in December.
