Donation of Winter School Uniform and Pre-loved Books

The end of the term is fast approaching and we are looking forward to our K1 and K2 Christmas shows. During our Christmas shows, the PSA will be selling some scrumptious treats, toys, books and donated ESF winter uniforms. All the proceeds will go to the Parents’ Association and the money will be used to enhance the learning of the children at school.

We would like to invite you to donate pre-loved children’s books you no longer have any need for and/or your child’s old winter uniform if your child has already outgrown it. Please note that all name labels should be removed and all items should be washed.

Please drop off donations as follows:

      Period: 25th November to 2nd December 2019

      Time: 8.30am to 4.00pm

      Drop off: School Reception

Should you have any queries, please contact the school office. Thank you for your generosity.

The Wu Kai Sha Kindergarten Parent Staff Association (PSA) works tirelessly throughout the year to arrange community events and support the purchase of additional resources for our children. The PSA achieves a tremendous amount each year and plays an integral role in the life of the school.

        The PSA aims to:

        • advance the education and wellbeing of the students of the school by providing or assisting in the provision of activities for the school
        • initiate and promote the interest and participation of families, students and teachers in recreational, cultural and in social affairs

The PSA is a registered organisation governed under the Hong Kong Societies Ordinance and all parents of children attending the school shall be members. A nominal fee is paid at the beginning of each school year. Each year, the PSA holds an Annual General Meeting where the events and accounts for the previous school year are reviewed. The AGM is also used as the opportunity to elect official office bearers through a closed ballot.

            FEEDING HONG KONG

You may be aware that a significant number of people (1 in 8) live below the poverty line in Hong Kong, including 1 in 3 elderly and 1 in 5 or 20% of children.  This represents a huge percentage of elderly and children in Hong Kong who do not have sufficient resources to live well and learn.

Feeding Hong Kong is a Hong Kong registered charity with a mission to fight hunger in the city and reduce the amount of quality food being sent to our landfills.  Each day, they collect high quality food that would otherwise be thrown away, sort and store it, and redistribute it to a network of welfare organizations who feed thousands of people in need.  In addition, they run food drives to collect quantities of basic needed food items.

During this school year, the Wu Kai Sha Kindergarten community will support Feeding Hong Kong by taking part in a Food Drive each month. Your generous donations are greatly appreciated! The collection calendar is as follows:

            • October: Rice
            • November: Canned Soup
            • January: Oats
            • February: Noodles & Vermicelli
            • March: Canned Vegetables
            • May: UHT Milk
            • June: Canned Fish

            DONATIONS TO HKSPC
Every Christmas we support children who are less fortunate than our own by donating Christmas gifts to the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children (HKSPC). Details of how you can support this initiative will be communicated to parents in December.
